Story Outline: Slide

-Exposition:
Ship owned by British sailor and crew are sailing for China to take another shipload of opium back to Britain. They arive on time and begin to load the opium on board when they are stopped by Chinese officials bringing news that the export/import of opium has been banned. The captain refuses to comply, saying he must deliver the promised shipload of opium and take it back to Britain, ensueing in the crew's immenent arest.
-Rising Action:
As the British continue to thwart Chinese enforcers, the Chinese need for comeback and retaliation continues to grow, and after another defeated attack by the Chinese, they confiscate a load of opium and burn it and threaten to kill British men in their custody. The captain has decided they must escape, and as he and the crew get out of the warehouse they are being kept in and stealing guns, they begin to make their way back to their ship, traveling through the wartorn town that was a bustling thouroughfare not four weeks ago.
-Climax:
Shooting their way to the water front, finding their ship, and trying to regain control, they are surrounded by Chinese forcers, armed and prepared to fire. The crew drops their weapons and are prepared to be shot, and as the Chinese ready their rifles, a paper boy runs through the streets, declaring the signing of the Treaty of Nanking and peace between China and Britain.
-Falling Action:
The British arrive a few days later, opening ports and beginning trade with China once again. The crew boards one of the ships heading back to Britain, theirs having been destroyed amidst the fighting and angst-filled streets of China, and go home.
-Resolution:
The captain continues sailing throughout Europe, bringing back imports. Things have returned to their normal cadence and everything has become familiar again, even the new members of the crew.
-Internal Conflict:
The captain is having to deal with the internal stress of leading his crew to safety, the people who depend on him for safety and guidence.
-External Conflict:
Fighting with the Chinese, their country at war and themselves fighting for their lives.
-Connections:
The fighting between Britain and China have brought on the stress in the first place, causing the captain to need to fight to get himself and his crew home. They are connected by origin and cause and effect.
